A HIGHER STANDARD OF QUALITY
Physical Therapy is....
Physical therapy encompasses assisting individuals to overcome or improve their physical functionality who may have had an injury, disease, or deformation causing dysfunction of the various neuromuscular skeletal systems of the body. Physical therapists utilize intervention strategies such as neurological re-education, exercise, hands-on manual techniques, stretching, modalities, education, and so much more. Always thinking in a functional approach, a physical therapist may be looking at restoring a knee or spine to full function after an injury, teaching someone who has had an Acquired Brain Injury to walk again, or teaching someone who has had a Spinal Cord Injury how to transfer from the wheelchair to bed.
Our job is to assist each individual in living their best life possible, on their terms and in their own environment!
Physical therapists are now required to have a DPT degree, unless grandfathered in prior to this requirement. This degree must be from an accredited physical therapy program and the therapist must pass a State Board Certification exam. They must be licensed in the state they practice. In Michigan, they are licensed through LARA, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
