A Higher Standard of Quality
Occupational Therapy is......
Occupational therapy encompasses an individual's everyday tasks, routines, and rituals at a micro and macro level. This includes, but is not limited to, the performance of bare necessities like getting dressed, brushing teeth, taking a shower, and eating daily meals. Occupational therapy services also integrate meaningful tasks into a person’s life beyond basic self-care. This may include cooking, cleaning, playing with children, taking a walk outside, managing finances, interacting in social situations, and maximizing sleep patterns. Occupational therapists utilize intervention strategies such as neurological re-education, exercise, stretching, utilizing adaptive tools and equipment, modification of environment, sensory integration, education, and so much more. The premise of the profession is to get to know each person and what is important to them, and then to formulate interventions/ways to improve the performance components that are required to accomplish the important tasks. At Triumph Rehabilitation, our job is to get each individual living their best life possible, on their terms and in their own environment!

This degree must be from an accredited occupational therapy program and the therapist must pass a National Board Certification exam. They must be licensed in the state they practice. In Michigan, they are licensed through LARA, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
